Texas College Steer Football remains undefeated as they move to 2-0 following their 54-3 win over the Westgate Christian University Ravens. The Steers faced off against the Ravens in Tyler on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.
Texas College Quarterback Kendrick Connelly threw six touchdown passes, leading the Steers to their second victory for the season. Wide Receiver Terrell Hookfin hauled three of those passes into the endzone for touchdowns in the first half. Connelly kicked the PAT after the first touchdown and ran in for two-points after the second, positioning the Steers for 21-0 lead at halftime.
The Ravens kicked a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter, bringing the score to 21-3. However, the Steers would answer back as Connelly threw two more of his touchdowns in the third, connecting with Tyre Lindsey and DeionTey Hill. Gawge Jordan booted the PAT after the Hill score and the Steers led 34-3.
Texas College scored 20 points in the final quarter with a pass from Connelly to Lindsey, as well as two rushing touchdowns from Ethan Davis and Gregory Donaldson. Jordan found the uprights for two PATs.
Connelly hit on 18 of 38 passing attempts for 371 yards with six touchdowns. Top rushers for the Steers were Gregory Donaldson with four carries for 53 yards and a touchdown, Zerrick Jones with four rushing attempt for 39 yards, and Jared Runnels with six carries for 37 yards. Hookfin had a total of five receptions for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Texas College's defense held the Ravens to just 59 yards rushing on 36 attempts. Kendrick Lee, Dylan Dubois, Jordan Williams, and Kris Hodges all recovered fumbles for the Steers.
