Scholarship Information

Texas College invites you to apply for financial assistance through our scholarship program. A limited number Texas College funded and endowed scholarships are available. To be considered, students must be accepted for admission and submit a scholarship application for the appropriate scholarship and semester. 

It is recommended that all scholarship applicants complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awarding of academic scholarships is based primarily on predictors of academic success, such as high school class rank, standardized test scores and prior grades. Additional consideration will be given to leadership qualities socioeconomic background and status as a first generation college student.

Institutional Scholarships

Presidential Scholarship Program

This four-year scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen only.

Eligibility:

• High school graduate
• 3.8 or higher G.P.A.
• Top ten percent of high school class
• Score of 23 or above on the American College Test (ACT) or 1060 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Renewal:

• Must enroll in at least fifteen (15) semester hours and pass twelve (12) semester hours per semester
• Maintain 3.7 or higher G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Amount:

• Up to the cost of tuition

Dean's Scholarship Program

This scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen for up to eight (8) semesters or four (4) years.

Eligibility:

• High school graduate
• 3.5 or higher G.P.A.
• Score of 21 or above on the American College Test (ACT) or 990 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Renewal:

• Must enroll in at least fifteen (15) semester hours and pass twelve (12) semester hours per semester
• Maintain 3.5 or higher G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Amount

• $4,000 per academic year

Honors Scholarship Program

This scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen for up to eight (8) semesters or four (4) years.

Eligibility:

• High school graduate
• 3.0 or higher G.P.A.
• Score of 18 or above on the American College Test (ACT) or 860 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Renewal:

• Must enroll in at least fifteen (15) semester hours and pass twelve (12) semester hours per semester
• Maintain 3.0 or higher G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Amount

• $3,000 per academic year

Achievement Scholarship Award

This four-year scholarship is offered to returning students for up to eight (8) semesters or four (4) years.

Eligibility:

• Enroll in and maintain 15 or more hours
• Have completed 31 or more credit hours
• Have a 2.7 G.P.A. or higher
• Apply for federal financial aid
• Apply for UNCF on-line scholarships (go to https//www.uncf.org/ to complete the on-line registration.)
• Apply with a Texas College Scholarship Application.
• Have an unmet financial need

Renewal:

• Must enroll in and maintain 15 or more hours
• Must maintain a 2.7 G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Amount:

• $2,000 per academic year

Transfer Scholarship Award

This four-year scholarship is offered to transfer students.

Eligibility:

• Enroll in and maintain 15 or more hours
• Have a 2.7 G.P.A. in transfer
• Apply for federal aid
• Apply with a Texas College Scholarship Application
• Have an unmet financial need

Renewal:

• Must enroll in and maintain 15 or more hours
• Must maintain a 2.7 G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Amount:

• $2,000 per academic year

The United Negro College Fund

The Urban Scholarship Fund
The Urban Scholarship Fund is for graduating high school seniors and returning college students, attending any accredited nonprofit college, university or technical school. The amounts to be awarded are $700 for community college, junior college and technical college students; $1,000 for public four-year college and university students; and $2,000 for private four-year college students.

Graduate of a high school in one of the following 19 cities: Abilene, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort , Garland, Houston, Irving, Laredo, Lubbock, Mesquite, Pasadena, Plano, San Antonio, and Waco. www.txadc.org

The Hispanic College Fund provides talented and underprivileged Hispanic youth with vision, mentors, resources and scholarships. www.hispanicfund.org

East Texas Communities Foundation

“East Texas Communities Foundation”  Scholarships are available to students in the East Texas area. East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) Counties: Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Delta, Franklin, Freestone, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Houston, Lamar, Leon, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Trinity, Upshur, Van Zandt, Wood.
